Job Description:

The Critical Infrastructure support initiative entails the design, installation, customization, testing, and implementation of several enhancements to the Agency's Network and Data Center infrastructure environments. These infrastructure-related updates are crucial for the efficient maintenance and functioning of the network infrastructure, supporting the Network-related security controls such as Switches, Firewalls, IDS, IPS, Proxy servers, etc., as well as its security components in the Data Center, Remote sites, and external entities (OTI, NYS, etc.).

Responsibilities:

· Implement conceptual design to physical database implementation, enhance and refine the logical design of the database.

· Monitor and manage SQL Servers and databases on a day-to-day basis; develop database designs, stored procedures, triggers, and constraints for new applications in MS SQL Server based on client standards.

· Provide day-to-day advice to users on data structures and terminology and develop policies and procedures related to the support and maintenance of database applications.

· Monitor databases for optimal performance and act to mitigate blocking and performance tuning issues.

· Provide guidance to Application Development staff for query, stored procedures, functions, and database design.

· Baseline system performance and monitor for deviations, recommending and implementing improvements to slow-running queries.

· Document database architecture, configuration settings, baseline performance metrics, and planned and unplanned outages.

· Establish and implement best practices regarding data definition, data quality, data security, and data integration.

· Perform database administration duties, including installation, patching, backup and recovery management, space management, schema management, startup, and shutdown.
